Hotel Kuretakeso Kiyomizu Gojo

Easy to find, in a great location close to Kiyomizu Dera, but away from the crowds. The room was on the small side but still nice and roomy. The staff was really good at helping despite the language barrier when we needed to find a hospital near by

The windows didn't have black out curtains, so the morning sunlight woke me up early.

The room wasn’t cleaned properly. Hair in tub n on walls. Also, under bed we found a slipper purely by chance n realized that under the bed was very dirty. ?

It's a great location to get where you need . The hotel is compact as you would expect. It was clean and the did the job. Good restaurants on Main Street and nice the river is just round a 5 min walk and you have a bit of calm.

This Hotel was very clean with a sauna and onsen. The rooms were bigger compared to other hotels we stayed in Japan. Free amenities and a happy hour with 1 drink per person were really nice to have.

Room is too small and crowded for four people and it seems like the hotel tried to fit 4 beds in a double room. Couldn't even open my luggage fully.

The room had everything you needed and the bed slept great. Also, the free welcome drink was a nice bonus.

The bathroom is a little small and there was an empty water bottle and dust under the bed which showed they only clean the visible parts of the room.

If your arriving at Kyoto station then attend the Tourist Info. & get a city map & instructions for bus#206. Get off at Gojozawa stop & walk about 8mins. I don't recommend the train. I arrived early & the hotel secured my suitcase as check in is not until 3pm.The twin room was spacious & everything worked fine. My double room was compact but again everything worked fine. I used their self service laundry facilities which was straight forward.I did not partake in breakfast or use their restaurant or hot bath facility so no comment. There are a couple of restaurants nearby as well as a Family Mart (250m).Overall, I had an enjoyable stay apart from the hotel's handling of my booking made over 10 months in advance.

I checked in to my room which was a twin room. I had booked & paid for a double room over 10 months in advance. I raised the issue with reception on my first night but apart from needing to use my translation App nothing was resolved to my satisfaction. The young english speaking guy on reception the next morning had been made aware of my issue & was able to do what staff the night before could not do ie allocate a double room which I had booked & paid for in good faith. Even though it was the smallest room on the floor plan it was still a double room. Kudos to that gentleman. Disappointed my booking was not dealt with greater respect.

the relaxing minimalist design of the room, the tatami mat, the Japanese feels in the room, the ECO-friendly system with some giveaways, the “happy hour” 6-8pm, 1 free drink with food, the nice and very accommodating staff

the onsen water is too hot

The location is great, a short walk from Gion. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi bath, it's very small but nice. Every day between 18 and 20 you can get a free drink in the breakfast area, after a long day of walking and sweating this was wonderful!

I know we're in japan and the rooms are small, but this was really over the top. We got a room for 4 people, there were literally 4 mattresses in a row on the floor and nowhere to move, it was really exaggerated. If you're with 4 people, please bear this in mind before booking!! Also the view was a brick wall, not that great either...

Comfy rooms and nice showers. Staff were so lovely! Location was perfect. Close to lots of nice areas but still nice and quiet.

Air con wasnt great

Luckily I had a big corner room. View was excellent facing main road. There was space to open luggage (unlike my stays at tokyo hotels). Breakfast spread was amazzzing! So much choice. Very very tasty. Variety every day. The majority staff were nepali. Could speak to them in their language. So i felt at home even in a foreign country. Kiyomizo Dera is 15 min walk uphill

Nearest bus stop is the gojo yamato oji which had connectivity to kyoto station but only once in 30 min. The Kawamachi gojo bus stop was 10 min away. So dragging the luggage was a headache. In between us the kiyomizo gojo train station connected to the keihan line. Regretably the subway doesnot intersect here. Nearest subway (karasuma line) is Gojo station which is very very far (15 min walk). So connectivity is an issue...just in case you have heavy luggage to carry.

may be location ride the bus is better than metro when you are after city tour

Nothing but Room Rate Price quite expensive ( cause Bank Credit Card JP¥ rate very high ). Better PAY AT Hotel ( Actual JP¥ rate ).

Everything was more than amazing, we booked a Japanese style double room; it was so nice and comfortable, beds are comfy and clean, the room has all the facilities one might need. Staff were wonderful; welcoming and smiling. Location is excellent; just beside Kiyomizudera temple and the renovated museum, there are plenty of supermarkets, souvenir stores, and drug stores. Subway station (Kiyomizu Gojo station) is just a 3 mins walk and Kyoto main station is just 20 mins walk.

Clean

Air conditioning was controlled by each floor.It was cold night and couldn’t use as heater.Only one elevator. It’s always busy.

Very good hotel, with a good breakfast, very nice complementary drinks in the evening, great hot bath and clean. Great value.

New and sparkling clean ! Big room for Japan ( usually are small )! Nice breakfast, too !

Nothing to complain about except needs a beer vending machine ! Zero on site!
